Backpocket AI, running in your tab

Your recording, ready to post

Drop the take in. Backpocket AI cuts the dead air, burns in captions that land on the word, and hands you the best 30 seconds for a reel — in about the time it takes to make tea.

A 12-minute take becomes 8

Every pause, every restart, every three seconds of you finding your place — gone, with the breaths left in so it still sounds like a person.

MP4, same quality you put in
Captions

Captions that land on the word

Backpocket AI writes them from the audio, so they change on the syllable rather than a second late. Reels style or a readable subtitle line.

Burned in — plays captioned everywhere
Clips

The five bits worth posting

It reads the transcript, scores every run of whole sentences, and pulls the ones that stand on their own — cut to whole sentences, never mid-word.

Vertical, ready for a reel

Three steps, one tab

No account, no upload, no waiting in anybody's queue.

Drop the file in

MP4, MOV, WebM or an audio file, any size. It opens straight away — a 400MB take is no slower to start than a 4MB one, because it never moves off your machine.

Backpocket AI listens

The first time, it downloads itself — 41MB, about a minute — and after that it is cached forever. Listening takes roughly a third of the recording's length: three minutes of video, about a minute of listening.

Take what you need

Trimmed, captioned, or cut into vertical clips — or all three off the same file. Each export is written in real time, so a 5-minute result takes about 5 minutes.

Why the edit sounds right

The parts that are easy to get wrong, and what Cut does instead.

It cuts to the ear, not to the frame

Cutting on the exact frame the sound drops is what makes edited speech sound clipped and strange. Cut keeps a fraction of a second at both ends of every join and never touches the short pause between two words — so it sounds like you talking, not like an edit.

It learns what your room sounds like

A fan, a street, a cheap mic — the quiet in your recording is not the quiet in anybody else's. Cut measures the loudness of every 20 milliseconds and works out this file's own silence, instead of applying a number somebody picked for a different room.

Backpocket AI listens on your machine

Captions and clips need the words, so Backpocket AI downloads once — 41MB, the first time you ask — and does the listening here, in the tab. No audio ever leaves. The usual way to do this is to upload your footage to somebody else's GPU and wait. What Backpocket AI is, and where it runs in each tool.

Your footage never goes anywhere

No upload, no queue, no account, no server that could keep a copy. That is also why it is free and why the file size does not matter: nothing is being paid for by the megabyte, because nothing moves.

Straight answers

Is my video really not uploaded?

Really. There is no server here that could receive it — the page is a static file, and everything after you drop the video happens in your browser. You can check it yourself: open your browser's Network tab and watch, or turn your wi-fi off after the page loads and keep working. The only thing Cut ever downloads is Backpocket AI itself, once.

How long does it take?

Backpocket AI downloads once — 41MB, about a minute on a normal connection, and never again. Listening is roughly a third of the recording's length. Exporting is real time: a five-minute result takes about five minutes, because your browser is writing the video frame by frame rather than a rack of servers doing it for you.

What does it cost?

Nothing, and there is no account to make. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no storage to pay for and no per-minute bill to pass on to you.

Which browser do I need?

Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc, on a laptop or desktop. Safari and Firefox cannot yet run the pieces this needs. It is not a phone tool — the export is real work for a machine.

Which languages?

English, for now. The small model is English-only and the multilingual one is four times the download, which is a real cost for everybody who visits. Hindi is the next thing to earn its megabytes.

Can I use the clips and captions commercially?

They are your recording and your words — Cut does not take a licence to anything, and never sees the file in the first place.

Drop the take in

It opens in this tab, nothing is uploaded, and you will know inside a minute whether it did what you wanted.
